Is Rakuten (formerly Ebates) legit?

November 11, 2020

Short answer: Yes. I have been a Rakuten (previously Ebates) user since 1/8/16 and I absolutely recommend this savings tool to anyone that shops online.

Why, you may ask…

Well, simply put: it’s simple. Rakuten is a tool that allows online shoppers to earn cash back at stores that they already shop at. If that’s not a #winning, I don’t know what is.

All you have to do is go to the Rakuten app (if shopping on your phone) or just click on my Chrome extension/Firefox add-on, etc.

I have the Chrome extension and anytime I’m on a site that offers cash back, I can instantly see how much cash back I’ll receive if I make a purchase. All I have to do is activate the offer:

Another nifty feature is that Rakuten will automatically apply the best coupon it can find out on the interwebs in order to give you the very best deal!

Then, all you have to do is just sit back and watch the magic happen!

You can receive your cash back either through Paypal or a physical check. Now the only bummer is that you only get paid every couple of months. But if I’m already going to be buying something on the site, I really don’t care if I have to wait a little bit. I’m getting some cash back which is pretty darn exciting!

So you might be saying…okay, Tiffany. How much have you really saved? In these past three years, I have received over $300 in cash back! Not too shabby, eh?

If you are *not* already a member of this awesome money saving site, I highly recommend you join! And if you sign up with my Ebates referral link, I would be a happy panda. You will also get a $10 reward when you make your first purchase through Ebates. Can I get a woot woot?

One last thing to note is that I use Ebates in tandem with other savings tools, such as RetailMeNot (to see if the cash back offer is better than Ebates cash back), Amex Offers, and Raise gift cards.
